Steel Sports Launches Massachusetts Baseball Operations with Wolfpack Athletics
Teams will begin play under Team Steel Massachusetts brand this fall
BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Steel Sports, a social impact organization creating a new standard in youth sports and coaching through its Kids First philosophy, has established baseball operations in Massachusetts with Wolfpack Athletics, a program headquartered in Westwood. Wolfpack Athletics, co-founded by brothers Aaron and David Fleishman, provides a multifaceted approach to training youth baseball players ages 8-16. The organization is a member of the Select Baseball League, which hosts travel baseball teams throughout New England.
Wolfpack Athletics will fully transition to Steel Sports and will take on the Team Steel baseball/fastpitch softball brand. Steel Sports currently operates Team Steel programs in California, Colorado and New York (Long Island), and its Steel United soccer club boasts nearly 250 teams in eight states coast to coast.
“In just a short time, Wolfpack Athletics has made amazing progress in establishing a footprint and influence in the Massachusetts baseball scene," Steel Sports President and CEO Martin Brown said. "Wolfpack and Steel’s philosophy to coaching, teaching and mentoring young athletes on and off the field are completely aligned. The decision for us was simple. Aaron and David have done a tremendous job with their program, and we are excited for them to join the Steel Sports family and support them as we grow together in New England.”
The Fleishmans have a combined 20 years of experience coaching baseball at the Little League, club, and high school levels. Wolfpack Athletics’ player-first and teaching philosophies, along with a unique approach to building and establishing relationships with local communities, have driven its success. The brothers have also developed a model to collaborate with other club sports teams outside of baseball in the Massachusetts area to run clinics and camps.
By acquiring Wolfpack Athletics, Steel Sports now has soccer (Steel United) and baseball (Team Steel) programs operating in Massachusetts, giving players the ability to participate in multiple sports under one name and brand. Steel Sports encourages kids to be multisport athletes, and this viewpoint helps players attend practices, training sessions and games for both sports without pressure to choose one sport over another.
"We are truly excited about joining Team Steel," said David Fleishman, COO of Wolfpack Athletics. "As soon as we started talking to Steel and learning more about their values and philosophies, we knew this would be a good match. What we will be able to provide our Team Steel Massachusetts families is truly going to revolutionize club youth sports in New England.”
The local community is encouraged to attend a State of the Union event from 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22 at Olin College to learn more about Steel Sports and the future of Team Steel Massachusetts.
Wolfpack Athletics will begin play as Team Steel Massachusetts in the fall. The Fleishmans will remain at the helm and work to grow the program and Steel Sports further into New England.
